This 4-day itinerary is an intense, fast-paced, and highly efficient adventure designed for travelers with very limited time who want to experience the Sahara Desert and the dramatic landscapes between Fes and Marrakech. This is a classic one-way journey that prioritizes the desert experience above all else.
The tour plunges directly south from Fes, crossing the Atlas Mountains to reach the Merzouga dunes on the first day. A key feature is the full second day dedicated to exploring the desert area, offering a deeper immersion than many other short tours. The final two days are a classic route west through the Todra and Dades Gorges, past the famous Aït Ben Haddou kasbah, and over the High Atlas Mountains to conclude in Marrakech. Be prepared for long but incredibly scenic driving days.
Start from Fes in the morning traveling through the Middle Atlas Mountains. The first stop is in Ifrane for refreshments. We continue on to the cedar forest where you might see the Barbary macaque monkeys. The tour continues on to Midelt where we will enjoy lunch. After lunch we travel through the beautiful Ziz Valley which has a series of oases and a landscape lined with beautiful palm groves. The Ziz River flows through the valley, feeding the oases. A wonderful photo opportunity! Continuing our journey, passing through Errachidia and Erfoud to finally arrive in Merzouga. Gateway to the Sahara! , you will camel trek to a desert camp, enjoying an amazing Sahara sunset along the way. Enjoy an authentic Moroccan dinner under the stars, be entertained by desert drums and enjoy the tranquility of the desert. Overnight stay.
T oday we will explore the desert region and the marvel that is the Erg Chebbi desert dunes. We will make a circuit of the desert dunes where you will have the opportunity to see the nomad’s way of life and the amazing changing contrasts of the desert. We will visit the ‘black village’ of Khamlia to see the Gnawa musicians. We will have a traditional Berber pizza for lunch . We will then return to the hotel to relax and have an overnight stay.
After breakfast we departed for Rissani; the old Sijilmassa center of ancient caravans from T oumboukto to Marrakech as the center market of Salt. After walking around the biggest market of the region we continue our trip through a semi-desert landscape till we reach the oasis of Tinghir, one of the wonderful places in Morocco .Then we get to T odra gorges highest and narrowest gorges with 300m which considered an attractive place for climbers. After having lunch, we continue our way until we reach another impressive valley of Dades, and overnight stay.
After breakfast we travel through the Dades Valley towards Kelaa M’gouna – called, “the way of the 1000s kasbahs”. We visit the city Ouarzazate and then explore local Ait Benhaddou Kasbah – the largest Kasbah in Morocco , a UNESCO heritage site. Then we will cross the high Atlas mountains till we reach the city of Marrakech, where our trip ends.
