12 days Casablanca – Merzouga Desert – Marrakech

1st Day – Arrival in Casablanca

Arrive at Casablanca airport. Transfer to Riad / Hotel.

2nd Day – Casablanca – Rabat

Visit the impressive Hassan II Mosque. It’s the larges Mosque outside Mecca. Take in the coastal vibes of the port city. Depart for Rabat where you will see the Hassan Tower and Oudaya Kasbah. Check into your Riad / Hotel for and overnight stay.

3rd Day – Rabat – Meknes – Volubilis – Fes

After breakfast, depart for Fes; travelling through Meknes and Volubilis. In the imperial city of Meknes, you will visit Bab Mansour, a famous gate, the Sahrij Souani Bassin and the Mulay Ismail Mausoleum. After lunch, the journey goes on to Volubilis; the Roman city. Here, you will see the beautifully preserved mosaics, a Roman road and city layout. Continuing the on to Fes, there will be stops for photo opportunities of the picturesque Moroccan landscape. Arriving in Fes in the late afternoon. Dinner, relax and overnight stay at Riad / Hotel.

4th Day – A Day Exploring Fes

Today you have a guided tour of the wonderful city of Fes; the former capital city of Morocco for more than 350 years. Through the local knowledge of your guide, your will discover the treasures of Fes, not usually on the tourist route. An authentic exploration. You will also discover the wonders of the University of Al Karaouine, the oldest functional University in the world! You will visit Moulay Idriss Mausoleum, the Nejjarine Fountains and the famous Tanneries. There will be a break for a relaxing lunch. After lunch a visit to the exterior of the Royal Palace and a wander through the “Mellah” or Jewish quarter where you can visit one of the few living synagogues in Morocco. A brief visit to the ceramic factory, taking in the amazing panoramic view over Fes’ Medina. Dinner and overnight stay at Riad / Hotel.

5th Day – Fes – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert

Depart after breakfast. Destination Merzouga Desert! Following the Caravan roads and passing through Azrou, Midelt and the Ziz Valley. Along the way you will enjoy views of the Middle and High Atlas Mountains. A stop at the Cedar Forest where you may be able to see the famous forest monkeys: the endangered Barbary Macaques. After lunch in Midelt, the trip continues through the everchanging landscape of Morocco, transitioning from the Mountains to the desert, travelling through the red earth of the Ziz Valley, an oasis lined with date palms: an amazing landscape. Stops for photo opportunities along the way. Finally arriving in Merzouga Desert, gateway to the Sahara, where you will be welcomed with some mint tea. Check into Riad / Hotel for overnight stay.

6th Day Merzouga – Camel Trek – Overnight Stay in Desert Camp

After breakfast you will explore and discover the wonders of the Merzouga area. You will visit the Gnawa people; historically they were Sudanese slaves. You will enjoy their music and learning about their way of life. Next, a visit to a nearby lake in Merzouga to see it diverse bird populations. The tour continues to the authentically Moroccan souk in Rissani. Rissani was a meeting place for the Caravans, trading as far afield as Timbuktu in Mali. Return to Merzouga to camel trek into the desert, stopping on the way to watch the a fiery African sunset and take in the beauty of the dunes. Continue on to spend the night at a traditional desert camp where you will receive a warm welcome, authentic Moroccan dinner, desert drums to entertain you and stargazing. Overnight stay.

7th Day – Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Palm Groves of Tinghir – Dades Gorge

Early start. Camel trek back to your Riad / Hotel, pausing along the way for a spectacular Sahara sunrise. Let the mystical magic of the desert consume you. Enjoy the transformations of the golden morning light of the desert. Breakfast and shower before departing. Today we travel through Rissani, Tinghir and Todra Gorge. Todra Gorge is a limestone Gorge carved out by the river and it’s the highest Gorge in Morocco. Enjoy lunch in the heart of the Gorge. Continue on to the final destination, Dades Gorge where you will check into a luxurious hotel, enjoy a refreshing swim, relax, a delicious dinner and an overnight stay overlooking the beautiful Dades valley.

8th Day – Dades Valley – Kasbah Amridil – Palm Groves Os Skoura – Ouarzazate

Depart after breakfast, travelling through the Dades Valley, passing through Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. This route is the route of a thousand Kasbahs, offering some wonderful photo opportunities. Stop at Kalaat Mgouna known as “The Rose City” where the famous rose water is made. Pressing on to Ouarzazate through Amridil Kasbah; one of the last Berber chieftans during the 18th century. Finally arrive in Ouarzazate for an overnight stay.

9th Day – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Tizi N’tichka Pass – Marrakech

After an early breakfast leave to visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is also the backdrop of many famous Hollywood movies and TV programmes, Gladiator and Game of Thrones to name a couple. After exploring the Kasbah and discovering it’s secrets, the journey continues through the High Atlas Mountains, stopping at Tizi N’Tichka Pass, which is the highest point in the country. Stopping to photograph the beautiful mountains, finally arriving in Marrakech for an overnight stay.

10th Day – Trip to Essaouira

Depart after breakfast for a day trip to the coastal city of Essaouira. Exploring its relaxed Medina and all the authentic and handmade crafts made by the Artisans. It’s a famous surfing destination and is aptly named “City of Wind”. The city has characteristic blue doors and washed walls and is also know as Morocco’s “Jewel of the Atlantic”. A visit to the women’s cooperative of Argan oil, good for culinary, cosmetic and medicinal purposes. The way it’s extracted and made is an art in itself. Enjoy lunch either in the Medina or in the Port. Travel back to Marrakech for an overnight stay at your Riad / Hotel.

11th Day – A Day Exploring Marrakech

A free day in Marrakech to explore and discover the delights of this Imperial City. After breakfast you can visit the historically and culturally rich sites of the Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian Tombes, Bahia Palace, Badia Palace and wander through the alleys, watching the Artisans crafting their treasures, before finally arriving in Jemma El Fna Square for lunch. This afternoon you will visit the infamous Majorelle Gardens and explore the new part of the city: Gueliz. In the evening after dinner there is an option to explore the square in the heart of the Medina: it comes alive at night and is filled with music, spicy aromas, dancing, fortune tellers, story tellers, acrobats and delicious street food sellers. Over night stay at Riad / Hotel.

12th Day – Take you to the Airport

After an early breakfast, we will transfer you to Casablanca Airport for your departure back home. End of tour. Thank you and safe journey home.
